Pave diamond rings are totally covered over with small diamonds along the entire rings band to give the appearance of solid diamond surface. There’s a certain elegance that comes with having a number of little pebbles set close together in a piece of jewelry. This kind of setting is called a pave setting which is one of the most popular settings in diamond rings.
Because pave-set diamonds use only tiny beads or prongs to hold them in place, very little of the metal band shows through and the diamonds all appear to be free-standing.
When a pave diamond ring has diamonds which go around the entire band, this is called a full pave. Other styles include a half pave, which is by far the most common of any pave ring. Most people find a full pave setting visually impressive, but prefer the comfort of a half pave setting, as the tiny diamonds are less likely to rub against the other fingers.
As compared to larger diamonds in whatever cut set in a solitaire, these pave diamond rings are less expensive but no less dramatic nonetheless. Pave settings for an engagement ring can be absolutely breathtaking. Aside from engagement rings, diamond rings in pave setting are used as wedding rings, anniversary rings, and men’s rings. Another nice aspect of a pave diamond ring is that it can be uni-sex. The resale factor should you ever decide you have outgrown your ring is much better, as many pave diamond rings can be worn by either sex, depending on what you buy. Granted many pave diamond rings are shaped for either a male or a female, but a good many could be uni-sex, if you shop carefully.
